    FNCE 2025 DPG/MIG Timeline

FNCE planning season is upon us once again Over the next several months you will be shoring up your FNCE events, with items coming due for staff to support the execution of the events you are planning.

In partnership with the Lifelong Learning and Conference and Events teams, the dates in this timeline have been established for FNCE planning and events. Please ensure relevant deliverables are provided to your DPG managers by the dates provided by DPG managers to ensure that requests can be accommodated Missed deadlines may result in delays for registration and lodging and may jeopardize planned events.

Every effort will be made to maintain deadlines. If due dates must be updated because of hotel, vendor, or other requirements, DPGs will be notified promptly by their DPG manager.

Please reach out to your DPG manager directly with any questions or concerns. We look forward to seeing you in Nashville!

Claim CPE Credit for Volunteer Leadership!

Did you know that Professional Leadership can be claimed for CPE credits for recertification?
Holding an elected or appointed office in a nutrition or dietetics-related national, state, district, or community organization that contributes to the acquisition of leadership skills and professional development can be awarded CPEUs. A year in the term of office (such as president) or preliminary term of office (such as president elect) must be completed during the current recertification cycle. Years of a term that concluded during a previous recertification cycle may not be claimed on the current cycle. Training on the topic of professional leadership would not qualify under this activity type. For a multi-year term, each year completed is eligible for 3 CPEUs. Concurrent positions may be held and claimed towards the maximum CPEUs.

2026 Nominations and Elections Timeline (Key Changes)

A message from Academy Nominating Committee Chair Lucille Beseler:

To promote participation and engagement in the leadership nomination and election processes, and to better align with other activities in the Academy program year, the Nominating Committee has made some key changes to the 2026 Academy National Election timeline. Specifically:

    • The Call for Nominations will be open from July 14 through August 18.
    • The ballot will be announced in November after Thanksgiving.
    • Campaigning will begin on January 5.
    • The election will take place January 19-26, with an election period duration of one week instead of two weeks.
    • Election results will be announced January 27.

We look forward to receiving your nominations and to collaborating with your communities on promoting the election of our future national leaders!

New Publication Supports Impact of MNT in Malnutrition

Malnutrition contributes to illness and death, and RDNs play a key role in managing it through medical nutrition therapy (MNT). A systematic review funded by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation analyzed 11 studies – total of 86,740 participants - to assess MNT’s impact. Findings suggest MNT may shorten hospital stays, support healthy weight, and improve quality of life, though evidence remains low due to study heterogeneity. The effect on mortality and readmissions was unclear. More research is needed, especially in outpatient settings. Standardizing malnutrition diagnosis and involving dietitians in research can enhance nutrition interventions and health outcomes. CDR Assess and Learn Updates

    Assess & Learn Modules

Unlike most on-demand continuing education courses which simply provide information and test for understanding, CDR’s Assess and Learn modules also provide valuable learner feedback. This added feature allows practitioners to not only gain valuable knowledge and skills in areas related to one or more of CDR’s credentials (RD, RD-AP, DTR, CSG, CSO, CSR, CSP, CSPCC, CSSD, CSOWM), but also accurately self-evaluate their competence in specific areas in order to pinpoint additional learning needs.
